The 2005 Galant continues this tradition of performance and grace. Under the hood, the Galant has a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder MIVEC engine. Need more power? There’s also a 3.8-liter, V6 engine that isn’t afraid to flex its muscles – and is the largest in its class*** – for the LS and GTS. Plus, Galant’s Sportronic® transmission with adaptive shift control (V6 only) thinks on the fly: It learns how you drive in various traffic conditions and adjusts itself accordingly. With the flick of a lever, you can convert to clutchless manual shift mode**** and enjoy hands-on shifting.
Other big news: a list of available luxury features that includes 16-inch alloy wheels (17-inch alloy wheels standard on GTS), power driver’s seat, leather seating surfaces, heated front seats and a 270-watt Mitsubishi/Infinity® 6-CD audio system with 8 speakers. The choice is yours.
Galant’s available traction control feature (LS and GTS models only) is another big advantage on both wet roads and dry. It actively monitors the drive wheels to detect for loss of traction and then instantly transfers power to the wheel with more grip to provide optimal driving performance. Factor in anti-lock brakes (ABS) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) (optional on ES; standard on LS/GTS models) and you’ve got the big picture on active safety. What’s more, all models boast front seat-mounted side-impact air bags† and a five-star rating for frontal crash safety based on tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).*****
What’s the bottom line? There’s a midsize sedan that dares to be powerful, nimble and stylish. Or, in a word, everything.
