Off-Road تعال وشوف!!!!!

These are pictures from the Off-Road challenge held on April 4 2002 at the Costain Dunes, one of the steepest and tallest dunes in the Muscat area. Jeep didn’t do a very good job organising this event, using a long piece of plastic as a starting line that often got tangled up in the vehicles’ undercarriages. There was no offical program or announcements during the event to tell the crowd what was going on, and the course was not cleaned up before the event, with some bumps at the starting line which led to lots of drive shafts being broken before the vehicle could even start up the hill, due to the stresses caused on the drivetrain after a small jump, while applying nitrous in first gear. Apart from those downfalls, however, it was a fun afternoon out, with many people from all over Oman turning up, even a team of off-roaders from the interior region of Bidayah. There were some crazy turbocharged and nitrous-boosted Wranglers, which we hardly get to see in the Muscat area. We hope the next event would be better organised, preferably by the Oman Automobile Club
