CHEVROLET CAPRICE WINS CAR OF THE YEAR AWARD

Dubai: The all-new Chevrolet Caprice was this week (March 29) named 'Large Family Car of the Year' in a glittering awards ceremony staged by LBC Television and Sport Auto magazine.
Gerard Saunel, publisher of Sport Auto, said: "The Chevrolet Caprice was the overwhelming winner in a sector that attracted 23 entries."
Accepting the award at the show, televised across the Middle East, Hadi El Khouri of General Motors said: "The Caprice went away for three years. Now it's back in a big way. This award seals its return as the leading family car in the region."
Sales of the rear-wheel-drive car in the Middle East have average 1,000 a month since it re-entered the market last year and hit a record of 1,350 in December.
The 2000 Caprice, with its substantial interior space and a multitude of comfort and convenience features, is powered by the Generation III 5.7 liter alloy V8 engine which delivers a massive 295 horsepower but with better fuel consumption than the previous model.
Interior space provides six cubic feet more volume than in the old model and eight more than in its nearest US competitor.

Another major plus is the front and rear-seat air-conditioning system which rarely needs to be switched to full flow even in the worst heat.
With improved crash energy management and durability, contributing to a smoother on-road 'feel' and higher levels of quiet driving refinement, the new Caprice contains cutting-edge technology.
